Spoofer in Newton Ferrers, Devon in August 2015
September 2015: Summer has not even started! There are at least two good sailing months left this season – three or more if you use the wonderful heater on Spoofer”!
The price? £9,950. This includes an Avon dinghy, 2hp outboard, GPS, speedo, life jackets, safety harnesses, bosun’s chair, VHF radio, flags, cutlery, crockery, glasses etc. It really is ready to go!
The boat is in immaculate condition for its age, and has just come back from a successful west country cruise where everything performed beautifully.
The boat has recently had a full engine service (less than 24 hours on the clock since service), a full polish, a new anode and a new stern navigation light.
The boat has been ashore for the last 3 years, sailing for about only 2 months per year. Nevertheless, it has been maintained as if in full service.
This is a fantastic opportunity. Sail away next week!

Southampton Boat show 2014
The Southampton Boat Show opens tomorrow, and what a great event it is. This year it’s bigger and better than ever.
But don’t go looking for a bargain in the 30 ft and under category. In fact there are hardly any boats there at all in this class. We did spot some, but at eye-watering prices.

Fancy the latest offering from Cornish Crabbers?, one of the few “small” boat builders represented at the show. A mere £90.000 will buy you this 29-footer(although you will still have to fork out for a few extras, like spinnaker, fenders and a satnav). If that’s too much, here’s a 2011 22 ft Shrimper for sale at Bucklers hard for a mere £31,000!
.
Or, if your budget is tight, try this tiddler – a trifling £3,000.
Then consider what a bargain “Spoofer” is. Tried and tested, loads of extras, beautifully enhanced and maintained , ready to sail away- all for just £10,950.
If you’re visiting the show, take half an hour and pop down to Bucklers Hard and snap up a great deal.. You won’t be disappointed.

Update Monday 1st September 2014: Spoofer is back ashore at Bucklers Hard, having cruised the south coasts of Devon and Cornwall for the summer. She has performed well, surviving hurricane Bertha without a blemish, and acquired a few nice embellishments .
If you are thinking of looking for a boat at the Southampton Boat Show, than make a short detour to Bucklers Hard. This boat must be seen – it’s a steal for the money.
We have reviewed other similar yachts of this type currently advertised. Some are in a very sorry state, and we have to say that Spoofer is in a class of its own in terms of condition, maintenance and extras, and well worth the bargain price of £10,950.
Do yourself a favour and grab a real, genuine bargain!

Our “For Sale” ad in Yachting and Boating World (YBW) has attracted a lot of interest, particularly from people who live 000s of miles from the sea.
If you are one of these bidders, please note
- We will not take it off the market if you offer us an extra payment
- We will not accept PayPal
- You will not get possession until the bank confirms that the funds are irrevocably in the account and cannot be removed
- We will not send funds to your agent (or anyone else) through Western Union, or any other money transfer system
- This may be a fantastic yacht, but only an idiot would buy it unseen. Don’t assume we are as dumb as you are!

Diagram of the interior showing accommodation layout
Accommodation Very compact, but surprisingly spacious– Up to 5 berths –
Open plan main cabin with 1 double bunk in forepeak, one single berth and one child berth. Stowage underneath bunks.
Rear cabin with double bunk, clothes stowage, heater controls and second battery.
Saloon/galley area with, navigation desk, wet gear stowage, icebox, food storage, stainless steel sink, gas cooker, central table, battery compartment.
Separate heads aft with Par marine toilet, basin, mirror and cupboards.
Owner’s comment: This boat is as warm and comfortable as it gets. Great for 2 couples, perfect for one. The aft cabin offers a comfortable retreat when off watch and privacy on the mooring. 5 or six people can sit down to dine, and over the years the boat has witnessed several gastronomic miracles. Keep the icebox topped up and your stores will keep deliciously cold. Ice should last for 24 hours.
When the weather turns cold, the heater (diesel) warms the boat up quickly and economically.

Spoofer, reefed down for a blow
Value! This Jouet 760, at only £9,950 comes with a whole load of extras – heating, instruments (not wind), separate gas compartment meeting legal requirements, 2nd battery in its own compartment. Over £45,000 has been spent on improvements, maintenance and renewals since 2001.
The market is overflowing with bigger boats, but the under 30 ft market has very few quality cruising yachts for sale at present. New prices in this sector are ridiculous. See story.
Below is a selection of comparable yachts advertised in mid September 2015
2011 Beneteau First – 25 ft- Falmouth £42,950
2006 Beneteau First -25 ft- Poole £32, 500
1983 Jeanneau Fantasia -27ft- Swansea £17,500
1983 Jeanneau Fantasia -27ft- Hayling Island £11,450
A second hand Jeanneau Sunfast 26 (1999+) by the same designer (slightly smaller than Spoofer) will set you back £17-18 000.
If you are looking for a fast, economical, immaculate, comfortable cruiser under 30 ft, make sure you view Spoofer first.
